Group wall post by Steve Robey

Facebook - Wed, 08/16/2017 - 7:49am
Steve Robey wrote on Tri-Cities Amateur Radio Operators's wall: Hi guys, I'm considering setting up a Kenwood TM-710G as a home APRS station but I would like to have it interfaced with a computer so I can send/receive using Xastir with the added ability of the setup to still work as an iGate. This would be replacing another transceiver that I already have working with Xastir. What I'm wondering is what cable or cables do I need to get for the Kenwood? Do I just need the serial / RS232 cable or will I need the audio cables too? Lastly, will I still be able to... (2 comments)

Robert Roberts posted a photo on Tri-Cities Amateur Radio Operators's wall: Might anyone have a Kenwood TS-940-S with an AT-940 internal antenna tuner installed or maybe just know how to install one? I am trying to install one. I think I have all of the connections from the radio to the tuner right (but I'll accept a second look). My problem is that I have 2 connectors coming from the tuner with nowhere for them to connect. Here's what they look like. (4 comments)

Link: Urge the U.S. Senate to Support the Amateur Radio Parity Act

Facebook - Wed, 07/26/2017 - 3:21pm
James Colson posted a link to Tri-Cities Amateur Radio Operators's wall: Please... PLEASE.. Take a second to send this letter to our representatives. This is the farthest we've gotten in getting antennas approved for use in HOA communities. It took me about 45 seconds to complete the form. This is the last hurdle to clear for the parity act to become law. We are almost there! Thanks all. .-James K7KQA (5 likes, 1 comment)

Stan Douglas wrote on Tri-Cities Amateur Radio Operators's wall: Well talk about a challenge, something is generating electrical noise in or near my house. It runs from 30 mHz through at least 400 mHz and is so strong that my garage door openers on 390 mHz will not work when it's on. So far I have eliminated the freezer, the refrigerator, the furnace fan and AC compressor. I don't have anything else that runs intermittently. I plan to build a loop antenna and see if I can get a direction on it. At first I thought it was the garage door receiver because 4 open... (2 likes, 13 comments)
