Morning Social Net

146.64 morining social net

You’re missing out! The morning social net on 146.64 (W7AZ) is a real gem. It’s not your typical net. We talk about science, archaeology, business, pop culture, music, etc. You name it, we talk about it. We meet at 7:30 AM every day. Fire up your VHF and join in. You do not need to be a member of the Tri-City Amateur Radio Club to participate.

Being NET CONTROL is FUN!

I have to say that I look forward to being net control for the morning social net a day or two a week. You really get to know the ham radio operators that join in. The net is growing slowly with about 10 regular check-ins and some once-in a whiles
When our net control operators travel, are ill or just have other things to do, we need willong ham radio operators to step up and be net control once in a while. This is important to me because I will be traveling to AZ pretty soon and I will be gone till spring. Please contact me KI7OOM or Albin KK9HAM and say,"I'd like to be net control on W7AZ".

James Langford- WB7DTO Now Silent Key

Long time Richland amateur radio operator and Tri-Cities Amateur Radio Club member WB7DTO James C. Langford passed away early this morning in the hospital in Spokane. He had been transported over the weekend due to health issues. Jim was 96 years old. Jim and both his sons received their amateur radio licenses at same time back in the 1970, with their calls grouped together- WB7DTM, WB7DTN and WB7DTO. Jim held a General class license. They were active in the Tri-Cities Amateur Radio Club for a long time. I worked on different projects with Jim out at Hanford.

New Dues Rates For The Tri-Cities Amateur Radio Club

We have all experienced inflation. Reality is the Tri-Cities Amateur Radio Club has had the same $20 dues rate for at least 25 years. Although the club has always kept costs low, our minimal costs of basic operations, which include annual non-profit corporation costs with the State, liability insurance and meeting place costs are substantially outpacing our income. In the December 2025 club meeting, our excellent Treasurer Cory KJ7GXG pointed out that our 2025 expenses were more than double our costs. Additional costs for 2026 include fixes for all our club repeaters: the Johnson Butte repeater (146.04/.64) is ailing, and the two Rattlesnake mountain long range repeaters have been down for two years due to broken antennas. Antennas that will withstand the WX on Rattlesnake are NOT CHEAP. The officers and membership attending the meeting were convinced, and with an unanimous vote, a motion to raise dues to $40 per year (individual) and $50 per year (family).
